4 tips to find more time to read

Starved for time? We hear you. If fitting in time to read feels like a luxury that’s usually only a holiday activity, don't worry, you’re not alone. If you want to change this, listen up. Because, let’s face it, who doesn’t want to read more? After all, reading is cathartic, relaxing, good for you – the list goes on.

Here are a few smart tips for ways you can fit in a little more time for reading.

1. Start small

All it takes is setting aside a mere 5 or 10 minutes every other day. Why not try setting an alarm on your phone to remind yourself to take regular 10-minute reading breaks. Also, make the most of your time - when you’re eating breakfast or lunch alone, pull out a book.

2. Carry a book wherever you go

An easy way to make more time to read is to always carry a book with you. From waiting in lines to getting a pedicure or your hair done, there are plenty of perfect opportunities to whip out a book.

3. Make it a morning ritual

In the morning it’s really easy to either hop on a device (phone or computer) or plonk yourself in front of the TV and waste time not really focussed on anything. Step away! In order to start your day off in a calm a non-frazzled place, pick up a book instead.

4. Track your progress

If you want to form a new habit, a really great way to do this is to keep track of your progress. This way by keeping track of your reading, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and it turn this will motivate you to keep it up.
