Royal family pictured together for the first time in months to honour Prince Charles

It was a joyous occasion for the royal family, as senior members of the monarch came together for the first time in 2019 for a reception held at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen was accompanied by Prince Charles, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to celebrate Charles’ 50-year anniversary as the Prince of Wales.

The esteemed members of the family all wore eye-catching colours, with the Queen opting for a bright violet blazer.

But Prince Philip’s absence was noted, as the 97-year-old retired from public life in 2017.

The Duchess Meghan chose to recycle a white Amanda Wakeley coat and paired it with a floral brocade dress.

While Duchess Kate went with a mint-green dress featuring ruffled sleeves and a button-up design.

Also present at the occasion was Prime Minister Theresa May, as she recognised the Prince’s service over the last 50 years.

Charles was nine years old when he was given the title of Prince on July 26, 1958 and was formally bestowed the label at Caernarfon Castle on July 1, 1969.

The event was the first time Kate and Meghan were seen together since Christmas at Sandringham House.
