Adorable new portrait of Prince Louis released

In honour of Prince Charles’ upcoming 70th birthday, an adorable photo of the Prince of Wales with his youngest grandson has been released.

In the photo, Charles can be seen holding the tiny hand of Prince Louis and smiling down at his sweet face.

The photo has been shared in the lead up to the eagerly-awaited airing of Charles’ documentary, Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70.

Prince Louis’ mother, Duchess Kate, also appears in the photo.

The tender family moment was snapped in the garden of Clarence House, Charles’ London residence which he inherited following the death of his grandmother, The Queen Mother.

Kate is wearing a polka dot navy and white dress, while Louis is seen embracing the sunny weather in pale blue shorts and a white shirt.

Charles wore a navy pinstripe suit in the photo and seems oblivious to the photographer who recorded the candid moment with his youngest grandchild.

The BBC documentary, which aired last week in the UK, revealed a side to Charles that is normally hidden from the public.

One scene captured the heir to the throne playing with little Lola, the granddaughter of his wife, Camilla.

The Prince was pictured swinging Lola, the daughter of Camilla’s son Tom Parker Bowles, around by the arms in the garden.

Together, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla have eight grandchildren and the Duchess says her husband is “wonderful” with all of them.

"He will get down on his knees and crawl about with them for hours, you know making funny noises and laughing and my grandchildren adore him, absolutely adore him. He reads Harry Potter and he can do all the different voices and I think children really appreciate that," said Camilla.

During the documentary, Prince William revealed that he is pressing for his busy father to spend even more time with his grandchildren.

"It's something I'm working more heavily on, put it that way. I think he does have time for it, but I would like him to have more time with the children," the 36-year-old said.

"I think he's… now he's reached his 70th year it's a perfect time to consolidate a little bit because as most families would do, you are worried about having them around and making sure their health's okay. And he's the fittest man I know but equally I want him to be fit until he's 95 you know going on."

"So, having more time with him at home would be lovely, and being able to you know play around with the grandchildren. Because when he's there, he's brilliant. but we need him there as much as possible."
