Man wins $200,000 lottery prize on the way to last cancer treatment
A man has won a whopping $US200,000 lottery prize on his way to his last chemotherapy treatment.
Ronnie Foster, from Pink Hill, North Carolina, originally won a mere $5 from the $1 ticket he purchased. But from there, he decided to spend his winnings on two more tickets, according to CNN.
When he scratched the first ticket, he won nothing. But then he moved on to the next ticket.
“I saw all these zeros and I froze,” Mr Foster told the North Carolina Education Lottery.
“I didn’t believe it until I gave it to the clerk at the counter to scan. When it showed, ‘Go to lottery headquarters,’ I started shaking. I couldn’t believe it.”
Approaching the end of his colon cancer treatment, the retired Department of Transportation worker revealed that he will be putting aside some of the money to help pay off parts of his treatment that wasn’t covered by his insurance policy.
The rest of it will be saved “for the future”.
“I was already happy because it was my last round of chemo,” said Mr Fraser. “Winning this made my lucky day.”
Mr Foster received $US141,501 after tax.
