The 2016 winners of the prestigious International Landscape Photographer of the Year competition have been announced, showcasing a range of captivating images.
Top spot went to Alex Noriega from the USA with his submission of the below aerial photo of the Colorado Plateau called ‘Mother Brain’, taken in southwestern US.
An Aussie came in second place, with Kath Salier celebrated for her folio including the below image of the beautiful Mount Field National Park in Tasmania.
Judge chairman Peter Eastway told Australian Geographic, “Landscape photographers are passionate about their art. For some, it's the time spent in the landscape, waiting for the perfect light or an amazing sky. For others, it's what they can conjure from their imagination without the restrictions of the natural world.”
